Client: Shakespeare North Playhouse

Instruct worked with Shakespeare North Playhouse to support the venue’s food and beverage offer, developing a distinctive identity for their bars and restaurant and helping to make the F&B a destination in its own right.

Built upon the brand idea “food for thought”, we developed the brand narrative, prioritising a welcoming atmosphere, authentic communication and flexibility. The rollout included naming, guidelines, menus, signage and the physical spaces.

The brand needed to work alongside the venue’s very distinctive look and feel, to feel distinctive without jarring with the core venue brand. Using the core brand typeface in a different weight, a warmer colour palette and a softer illustrative style, we developed a specific look and feel for the Bar & Kitchen that worked seamlessly beside the venue brand.

The brand was developed with flexibility in mind and we developed templates to allow staff to quickly produce Bar & Kitchen specific content that stands out in the venue’s social feeds.

The brand extends into Shakespeare North Playhouse’s venue hire offer, using the softer, more welcoming approach and the wide range of illustrative assets to speak to audiences differently for different purposes – venue hire, conferences, even weddings.
