A Design Manifesto for the city

Another Design Manchester is over, we didn’t have time to post anything about it as we were too busy curating, designing and delivering the festival but this is something we need to talk about…

We started Design Manchester six years ago as a festival and have grown into a design organisation with a voice, now it’s time to use that voice. We were asked by Manchester City Council to investigate how designers, design skills and design thinking could come up with better solutions for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The resulting study identifies areas that would benefit from the user-centred and transformative impact of design, from industry to education, and from public services to the public realm.
